When I Survey The Cross

For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.” 1 Corinthians 1:18

In light of all that we stand in the middle of right now, would it not do our hearts good to pause and stare at the cross. The cross changed everything then and it continues to change everything for all of eternity. It accomplished everything for us and it demands our all.

This week, I would like to pause the writing and encourage you to join me in lingering at the cross. Let’s look at the great love that sent Him to the cross and kept Him on the cross. What power rose Him from the grave and what victory is mine because of it all.

The words of this old hymn say it all. Meet me at the cross and ponder.

When I Survey The Wondrous Cross - Isaac Watts

When I survey the wondrous cross

On which the Prince of glory died,

My richest gain I count but loss,

And pour contempt on all my pride.

Forbid it, Lord, that I should boast,

Save in the death of Christ my God!

All the vain things that charm me most,

I sacrifice them to His blood.

See from His head, His hands, His feet,

Sorrow and love flow mingled down!

Did e’er such love and sorrow meet,

Or thorns compose so rich a crown?

Were the whole realm of nature mine,

That were a present far too small;

Love so amazing, so divine,

Demands my soul, my life, my all.

Lord, may we never forget what you did for us.

May we press in to know you more intimately and to believe you for all things.

You are our Savior. You are Lord over everything.

Truly, your love is so amazing and so divine.

May we surrender our soul, our life, our all.
