Do You Love Me?
But now, this is what the Lord, your Creator says,
O Jacob, and He who formed you, O Israel,
“Do not fear, for I have redeemed you;
I have called you by name; you are Mine!”
Isaiah 43:1
Do you love me? It’s a question all mankind asks whether aloud or silent. The question lurks in the depths of our being because we are created to be loved by God. Everyone you pass today is asking this question in some way. We see the world searching for the answer in extreme ways. It is an unstoppable question in our inner being because it must be answered.
Did you ever receive the scribbled handwritten note asking the question?
It seemed so simple. Just check a box and it is all settled.
As Valentine’s Day approaches the card aisles are packed at most every store. We search for the card that has the perfect words attempting to express the love we have for another. A quick Google search gives the facts:
“Approximately 145 million Valentine's Day cards are exchanged industry-wide (not including packaged kids' valentines for classroom exchanges), making Valentine's Day the second-largest holiday for giving greetings cards.”
And let’s not forget the special gifts of candy, flowers and jewelry. We search a myriad of ways to feel and to demonstrate love. Thankfully, it is still acceptable to express your love for another.
It takes me back to school days when we prepared bags or boxes to receive those tiny little cards from classmates. On Valentines Day, we carefully placed little notes in each box. The highlight of the party, after yummy food, was opening the box to read cards from your friends. Some were sentimental, while others were silly bringing much laughter to the room. There was usually at least one you were especially hopeful that it would answer the question.
Our key verse for today jumped right down into the box of my heart. I smiled as I read it and re-read it over and over like I used to read that one special valentine from someone special. Did you see it? It was written to you.
“I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are Mine!”
Isaiah 43:1
It sticks out to me like one of those conversation candy hearts that must be eaten one by one.

MINE!
Yes, I belong. He loves me and He sends a personal valentine every day. When I awaken every morning, it sits in the box waiting to be opened, read and received.
His word is the most beautiful precious love letter ever written.
You may not receive candy, flowers or jewelry this Valentines Day, but there is a lover unlike any other. He gave His very life for you. He comes after you with great passion and fury. Go ahead. Dare to believe this crazy love is for you.
I wonder if He might be waiting for us to answer the question also. I want to answer with an unquestionable “YES.”
YES!
